FOR BUILDERS · AI API PRICE MONITORING

Track AI API prices.
Keep the context.

Watch official AI pricing pages for changes to model rates and usage terms. PageLens saves scheduled checks so you can review what changed before revising your cost assumptions.

Choose the rate table your product uses

Start with the provider's own pricing documentation, such as OpenAI API pricing or Claude pricing. Use a dedicated page with readable prices. A marketing homepage can change frequently without changing the rate you pay.

Give each source its own watch. For an AI agent that calls several models or tools, start with the provider most important to your costs. Add other sources after confirming that the first saved check contains the relevant table.

Keep the unit attached to the number

  • Model and version: record the exact model name beside its rate.
  • Input, output, and cached input: compare each category separately, using the stated token unit.
  • Tools and other modalities: review per-call, image, audio, or storage charges when relevant.
  • Conditions: keep batch discounts, service tiers, context limits, currency, and effective dates with the price.

A changed number is only useful when its meaning is preserved. Check the source before interpreting a new model row as a price increase for your existing model.

Set up your first pricing watch

  1. Install PageLens, open the pricing page in Chrome, and wait for the rate table to appear.
  2. Open PageLens, describe the pricing details you want to review, and choose browser execution with a daily interval as a starting point.
  3. Allow access to that site and create the watch. Open its first result to confirm that the expected model names, units, and prices were captured.
  4. Review later changes in the history. If you want AI-written summaries for a browser watch, configure and test your own model connection, then enable analysis for that watch.

Basic checks compare visible text. The instruction guides optional AI summaries; it does not restrict notifications to price changes or turn a price threshold into an alert rule.

Review the evidence before changing your estimate

PageLens records the page, not your provider bill or actual token usage. It does not automatically calculate savings, select a cheaper model, or validate an API's behavior. Use the saved change as a reason to inspect the current official table and your own usage assumptions.

Browser checks need Chrome running, your computer awake, and the page reachable. Tabs, region choices, or prices hidden behind an interaction may not appear in every capture. Check the baseline first. Sign in for cloud execution when you need checks to continue after Chrome closes.
