PAGELENS LOCAL · OPTIONAL

Keep the watch.
Keep the data.

Run recurring page checks on your Mac. PageLens Cloud never receives local page content, signed-in sessions, model keys, or reports. Optional AI evidence goes directly to the provider you choose.

TWO WAYS TO RUN

Choose per watch.
Change nothing else.

Cloud remains the default. Select “This device” only when a watch should stay on your Mac. Existing watches never move automatically.

01

CLOUD

Always available

Best when your Mac may be offline. PageLens checks the page from its managed service and keeps the timeline in your workspace.

Default for every new install
02

THIS DEVICE

Private and local

Best for pages that depend on your Mac, your own model provider, or content you prefer not to send to PageLens cloud.

Runs after Chrome closes

INSTALL ONCE

From download to first local watch.

The menu bar icon shows whether the engine is running. Login startup and crash recovery keep it alive in the background.

  1. 01

    Install PageLens Local

Download and unzip the macOS package. Control-click “Install PageLens Local.command”, choose Open, then confirm Open. It copies the app into your personal Applications folder and adds the PageLens lens to the menu bar.

    Download the macOS package ↗
  2. 02

    Choose “This device”

Open the PageLens Chrome extension. Under “Runs on”, switch from Cloud to This device.

  3. 03

    Match the six-digit code

Approve the browser in the local workspace, return to the extension, and click Refresh. Pairing is scoped to that extension installation.

  4. 04

    Create a local watch

Describe what matters and choose a schedule. The watch and its reports continue on this Mac even after Chrome closes.

VISIBLE CONTROL

A quiet menu bar presence, not another window.

The icon is a status surface: open the local workspace, see whether the engine is healthy, restart it, or stop it intentionally. Persistence is handled separately so closing a page cannot end scheduled work.

BEFORE YOU INSTALL

Does local mean offline?

The engine, stored task data, and reports stay local. Creating a watch requires a brief PageLens Cloud plan check; watched pages and an optional model provider require their own network access.

What happens if the Mac sleeps?

Checks wait until the Mac wakes. PageLens shows them as waiting; it never moves them to cloud without your choice.

Where are reports stored?

State is stored under your macOS Application Support folder. Capture exports go to PageLens Captures on the Desktop.

Can I use no AI model?

Yes. Facts-only mode compares and organizes page evidence without an API key. A personal model provider is optional.
